For over 42 years, Gilbert B. Kirwin has successfully represented injured persons, including children, consumers, and employees in recovering damages arising from auto and truck accidents, industrial accidents, construction accidents, elevator accidents, bicycle accidents, motorcycle accidents, refinery accidents, dangerous premises accidents, hospital negligence accidents, defective products, and insurance claims.
Gib began practicing primarily as an insurance defense litigator in 1966 where he learned the basics and subtleties of the insurance industry and the defense bar. Since starting his own office in 1972, Gib has represented only personal injury and aggrieved victims. He finds protecting the victims immensely more rewarding than defending the wrongdoers. He works hard to get the largest recovery on behalf of his clients, whether they are a shipyard rigger, the family of a college student killed by a negligent driver, or an off duty Marine in an auto accident.

the adult brother of a female pedestrian killed in SF when struck by an 18-wheel truck ($495,000, among the highest recorded recoveries in California for a non-dependant adult sibling);
a recreational motorcyclist in Alameda County struck by auto ($1,053,500 total value of which $651,000 already paid out);
a SFPD motorcycle officer struck by auto ($100,000);
a Sacramento family auto accident ($263,000);
a trip and fall of a homemaker at a San Francisco boutique ($150,000);
a cable car passenger struck by van ($73,250)
Mr. Kirwin was born in New York City in 1937. He graduated from Princeton University in 1958; served on active duty with the U. S. Marine Corps (Captain) from 1958-60; and in 1961 was Stadium Operations Manager for the Los Angeles Angels in its first year in the American League. He then attended Hastings College of the Law, University of California, graduated and was promptly sworn into the State Bar at its next session. At Hastings he was the winner of the Bancroft Whitney Award for excellence in Conflict of Laws.

Gib is a member of the State Bar of California, the Consumer Attorneys of California, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, and the Bar Association of San Francisco. He is a pro tem settlement judge and arbitrator for the San Francico Superior Court and has been a moderator and lecturer for the State Bar of California, Continuing Education of the Bar.
Gib is married to Joanne Kirwin and they have an adult daughter, Rachel. Gib and Joanne reside in Belvedere and in his free time he enjoys cycling, sailing, ballet and prep football.
